HONORING KOBE – NEW GAME FORMAT
In honor of Kobe and Gigi Bryant, the NBA will be using a new format for this year’s all star game to represent the two beloved basketball players. Here is how the game will be played:
- The teams will compete to win the first three quarters, where in each the score will start at 0-0 and run 12 minutes long
- The game clock will be shut off at the start of the fourth quarter, and a target score will be set. This final score will be determined by taking the leading team’s total cumulative scores through three quarters and adding 24 points
- Once the target score is set, the teams will play an untimed fourth quarter and the first team to reach the target score will win the NBA All-Star Game
- The selected community organizations will be awarded $100,000 for a win in one of the first three quarters, and the team to reach the target score first will have $250,000 awarded to their community organization on their behalf of their team
- Team LeBron wearing No. 2 for Gianna and Team Giannis to wear No. 24 for Kobe
